Summary
Madame Augelier sits at her table holding the gift her husband has sent to her from Algeria, it's their 29th wedding anniversary and every year he gives her a new piece of jewelry with jewels that correlate with how long they've been married. This year she received a bracelet with 29 jewels. She realizes that the jewelry bores her and she's hesitant about telling her husband what she feels. Not only does the bracelet bore her, but so does her black onyx ring and her sapphires. She recalls a blue glass bracelet she owned as a child and supposedly when she looked through the bracelet everything became distorted as if in a different universe. She becomes obsessive with finding the similar bracelet, she visits shop after shop, parking on unfamiliar streets. She comes across one shop that holds a blue bracelet, she looks through it and finds what she was looking for, a distorted second world, she buys the blue glass bracelet. She arrives at home and holds it under a lamp and comes to realize the bracelet is nothing but a child's toy and the closest she can get to the glass bracelet is the memory of a 10 year old girl holding it in her hands.

1. Missing You: All Time Low cover by Nicole Norwick ( https://youtu.be/_zCvcVoFPNc )
Missing You is about not giving up and how much you're friends will help. It's saying that you've come this far don't give up, this is relatable to the story because the wife has come this far with her love and she wants to keep appreciating his gifts but they're repetitive and boring to her. "Hold on tight this ride is a wild one." is relevant because no matter how difficult the ride is to continue to love her husband as she has before. She wants to love him but with the gifts he's given her it's impossible, she feels as if he's buying her love to keep her.
2. There Is Only One God and His Name Is Death: Slaves ( https://youtu.be/uQDqCgbjURs )
This song is about how lasting things take time and how he's built life on his own and how he's proud and doesn't appreciate how people are judging him for it and criticizing. This correlates with the short story because lasting things such as love doesn't happen overnight and is created overtime, her husband has diminished it because of all of the gifts he's given her. They've worked together to build their life up to what it is now and with the lyric "How quickly you've changed over night" is relatable because when they first got married he wasn't able to spoil her and now that they have money he can spoil her.
3. Happy Anniversary: Motion City Soundtrack ( https://youtu.be/LwcEHBOEyJo )
This song is from the point of view of the person who is dying and their promises to the living person. This is relevant to the story because the love is portraying as the dying person and the promises of Happy Anniversary and a continuous life of happiness and in the after life the love will do what it can to keep them happy. "I won't be here to dry your tears... promise me you'll love, my dear." Francois let the love die by buying her love rather than earning it, given he doesn't know better and the love and Francois can'be there to dry her tears because they're both gone.
4. Makeshift Chemistry: Crown The Empire ( https://youtu.be/PoMJ0VkGG1c )
Makeshift Chemistry is about that "he was absolutely in love with this girl, he would give everything for her but she acted like he didn't even exist, and it hurt him but he continued to fight for her and finally he's seen her for who she is and decides he's not going to be hurt anymore and finally moves on." This correlates with The Bracelet because Francois is in love with his wife and he would give anything including expensive jewels to keep her love, she called him 'Poor Francois' because his unconditional love is also unrequited love that he doesn't know about.

This is a bathing suit from the 1920's, these were a popular trend. Stockings and special bathing slippers were worn traditionally. "By the mid-1920s Vogue magazine was telling its readers that “the newest thing for the sea is a jersey bathing suit as near a maillot as the unwritten law will permit." The bathing suits were typically made out of wool since swimming was a relatively new thing, and this idea was to keep you warm. The arm holes were bigger for more flexibility, necklines were dropped down to V necks and a swim cap that fit as tight as a cloche cap with and optional strap under the chin was an option.

This is a 1920's cameo charm, usually worn as a necklace with a lace band and it's worn like a choker. Cameos were usually made for royalty and it showed a sign of high class. Not only do cameo's have pictures of women, they also included religious figures and scenes, mythology, and floral motifs. The first cameos were made for Alexander the Great when they used to be made out of Onyx, Sardonyx, and Agate. Empress Josephine wore a cameo made from shell, a material that's easy to carve and not expensive looking. Her daily trend made the cameo a must have in France.
